Budget calculation and short application: next steps
From a budget estimate to a short application with your full address: carry information forward, review it and confirm.

Distinguish guidance, initial contact and full assessment
The new application uses a single short application with a full address. First calculate your borrowing capacity, then choose the amount and term and add your personal details. The application is not loan approval.
Budget calculation: what might be financially possible?
If you do not yet know what amount fits your household, a budget calculation is a useful starting point. Regular net income, residence, household, necessary expenses and existing commitments are central. Name and contact details do not initially answer this calculation question; they become relevant when it turns into a personal enquiry.
The result depends on complete, accurate inputs and the assumptions used. A calculator does not know expenses you have not provided. An indication must therefore not be understood as an already assessed offer. For cash loans within the Consumer Credit Act (KKG), the later affordability assessment must meet the legal requirements, including the 36-month approach.
Keep borrowing capacity and the requested amount separate
Borrowing capacity estimates what may appear possible from the budget. Your requested amount instead describes your actual need. If you need 20'000 francs and the indication is higher, that does not mean you have to borrow more. A larger loan creates additional obligations even if mathematically possible.
If the indication is below your need, advice should explain the gap and clarify potential errors or alternatives. It should not replace your amount without asking. The article Borrowing capacity too low explains useful next steps and remaining limits.
Short application: record the specific borrowing request
This includes title, first and last name, date of birth, street, house number, postcode, town, canton, mobile number, email and nationality. An address addition is optional. For foreign nationality, provide the actual country and residence permit; for B permits, also the entry date. Known budget and child details are retained. Check everything before confirming.
In the new interface, borrowing capacity is considered before moving to the application. Starting through the application may therefore first take you through budget details. The classic website has its own application process. What matters is not the wording of the entry button but which information is already complete in the particular process.
A short form reduces initial data entry but does not replace the necessary evidence. An initial contact can therefore be simple while the later decision still needs further assessment. Neither guaranteed speed nor guaranteed payout should be inferred from this.
You explicitly confirm whether you want an offer for optional payment protection. Displayed repayments exclude insurance premiums. Requesting an offer does not take out insurance.
Further assessment after the short application
There is no switch to a second full online application. The adviser follows up personally on further information and supporting documents. Voice prepares the same short application with a full address.
Conversation and form serve the same request
During a conversation, you can first obtain information, clarify a budget question and then prepare an enquiry. Changing the topic should not mean the earlier borrowing request is forgotten. Information given verbally must, however, be just as understandable and verifiable as values entered manually.
Before confirmation, the visible summary is decisive. In particular, check whether an example loan amount discussed has accidentally become your own request. A general question about a loan’s costs is not an instruction to apply for exactly that loan. Correct inconsistencies before the next step.
What follows an enquiry
Depending on progress, recording information is followed by further questions, document checks and an individual decision. Only a specific offer establishes the proposed terms. A contract must then also be distinguished from the actual payout. The process from application to payout explains these stages together.
Frequently asked questions
Is the budget calculation already an application?
No. It initially provides financial guidance. A personal enquiry requires additional details and deliberate confirmation.
Do I need to complete a second online application?
No. The new application uses one short application. Known details are carried over; the adviser follows up on further evidence.
Is a short application already loan approval?
No. The required individual assessment and a specific offer are separate.
Sources and information date
Information as of 2 November 2026. The applicable rules, individual assessment and contract documents are decisive.
Credit must not be granted if it would lead to over-indebtedness. A budget calculation provides a non-binding indication, not a loan offer.
